  Girl at the lotus pond
Acrylic on Canvas 2008 (Size 36" x 48")

A Panoramic view of a vast lotus pond filled with thousands of flowers and floating leaves. Nature’s own palate of colours in its brightest form, the green in the leaves, the red in the flowers, the blue in the sky, the white in the clouds and the black in the rocks, capture the hearts. The rocks covered with creepers and weeds make a curved entry into the pond. Who will not want to sit on that rock and pluck a lotus from the water ? The blooming flowers in the morning sun and the little child portray a picture of innocence and beauty. The clouds in the background and the infinite blue sky make a strategic contrast to the colours applied below. This picture conveys a message of nature conservation also. "If the so-called development goes on like this, will there be any green left for our children ?" asks the artist. Preserving this beautiful nature should be the prime motto of every human being.
"Save nature save our children."

The three dimensional effect created in every object in the picture is the result of the dedication the artist took to play with light and shades.

  Theyyam with Padayani
Oil on canvas 2007 (Size "24 x 36")

The folklore tradition of Kerala is well known for its extravaganza of colours and motifs. The artist is much delighted in painting the folklore themes. Here the exuberant and psychedelic colours of the Theyyam and the strong light effect of the Pandam, which is outside the frame are the prim attractions. A good theme to show in a drawing room or a chairman’s cabin where command and rule is essential. The belief is that Theyyam has a power to ward off the evil or black energy in a room or the mind of the person. It instills extreme power to rule in the mind of the person who displays it. The motif in the right side is crafted by tender coconut leaves and aracanut leaves by artisans according to folklore tradition. True to life colours are specially formulated to paint this art piece. Watch the three dimensional effect in the motifs and the play of light. If we lose floklore, be lose our roots”.

  Reflections in The flowing river
Oil on Canvas 2008 (Size "24 x 36")

The calmness of a slowly flowing river and the reflections of trees and the sky in it are always a fascination for us. The psychological impact it creates has a very positive effect. A very suitable picture to place in the bed room, or in the drawing area. Long brush strokes were applied to blend blue and white for the skies and water. The trees are painted with puffing techniques by brush and knife. The reflections of the trees in the river is painted with soft down strokes. Prem is happy to see some art lovers touch the water with their fingers to feel it . A catch of realism with the effect of impressionism. If this beautiful nature be there for ever.

  The Lotus Pond 001
Oil on Canvas 2007 (Size "20 x 20")

The rays of the rising sun gives a radiant glow to the lotus in the pond. The green lotus leaves make a magic contrast with the red flowers. The vibrant colours of nature high lighted by sun rays. It is considered very positive to have a lotus pond in the courtyard of your home. Hanging the paintings of a lotus pond has the same relevance to that belief. The flowers in the back ground is painted with just some small touching of the brush. But the feel is still realistic.

  The face of Theyyam
Oil on Canvas 2007 (Size "24 x 36")

The highly ornamented Theyyam is part of the colourful exotica of the folklore tradition of Kerala. The Ornaments created in brass and covered by gold is highlighted in this painting. The brass and red combination of the painting has created with much attention but with few strokes. The metallic effect of the ornaments has a realistic beauty of its own. During exhibitions art lovers come close to study the secret of the metal effect in the picture. A good theme to show in a drawing room or a chairman’s cabin where command and rule is essential. The belief is that Theyyam has a power to ward off the evil or black energy in a room or in the mind of a person. It instills extreme power to rule in the mind of the person who displays it. Folklore is where our roots are.
